Air Conditioning

The air conditioning system in a car cools and dehumidifies the cabin air to provide a comfortable temperature — even on hot summer days. The system uses a refrigerant that circulates through a compressor, condenser, and evaporator.

When you turn on the air conditioning, the refrigerant is compressed, causing it to release heat and then cool down again. The cooled air is blown into the cabin while moisture is removed — significantly improving comfort. A properly functioning system not only lets you enjoy pleasantly cool air, but also helps keep windows clear of fog in humid weather.

You can quickly test your cars air conditioning by turning it on and checking whether cold air comes out of the vents. This should happen within a few minutes. If the air remains lukewarm, or if you hear unusual noises, it could indicate a low refrigerant level or a technical issue. It’s a good idea to have a professional air conditioning service performed at your mechanic or auto center at least once a year.

At Hydro Autocenter, we offer thorough inspections, refrigerant refills, and diagnostics so you can always drive comfortably — no matter the season.

The air conditioning in an electric vehicle works on the same basic principle as in a gasoline or diesel car, but it’s powered by the vehicles high-voltage battery instead of a combustion engine. The compressor, which cools and circulates the refrigerant, is electric and can therefore operate even when the car is turned off. Many EVs have advanced climate controls with options for preheating or precooling via an app or on-screen. Because EVs don’t have waste heat from a combustion engine, it’s important that the system functions correctly. Regular service at your mechanic or auto center ensures optimal comfort and efficient battery use — especially on longer trips.

You can check the air conditioning in an electric car by turning on the climate control and making sure cold air comes out of the vents quickly. Test both the cooling and heating functions. If cooling performance is poor, you hear odd noises, or there are unpleasant odors, the system should be inspected by a mechanic or auto center. Because an EV’s air conditioning involves high-voltage components, professional handling is recommended. At Hydro Autocenter, we have the necessary equipment and expertise to ensure your climate system runs efficiently and safely year-round.

Tires

At Hydro Autocenter, you get a complete tire service that includes tire change, balancing, and a thorough inspection of tire condition and tread depth. We ensure your tires match the season and your vehicle. For storage, your tires are kept in our tire warehouse under optimal conditions — dark, dry, and at the correct temperature — which extends their lifespan. We also label each tire so they’re mounted correctly next season. You avoid the hassle and can rest assured your tires are in good hands. We’ll contact you well in advance when it’s time to switch.

Tires should be stored in a dry, dark, and cool place to preserve rubber quality and lifespan. UV light, heat, and moisture can degrade tires and shorten their durability. Keep them away from chemicals and heat sources. If the tires are on wheels, it’s a good idea to stack them horizontally. Without wheels, they should stand upright and be rotated regularly to avoid flat spots. If you don’t have proper storage at home, Hydro Autocenter offers professional tire storage with optimal conditions and monitoring — ensuring your tires are ready and in top shape when you need them.

Stone Chips

If your windshield gets a stone chip, it’s important to act quickly so the damage doesn’t turn into a crack. Cover the chip temporarily with a stone chip patch (usually available at most gas stations) and avoid directing the blower/heat right at the area. Then contact a workshop as soon as possible. At Hydro Autocenter, we can often repair the chip quickly and effectively without replacing the entire windshield. Early repair saves you time and money, and we’ll ensure the damage is handled correctly so you can get back on the road quickly and safely.

Stone chips in the windshield are usually covered by comprehensive insurance and, in many cases, also by glass coverage if you have it. For repairs, there is often no deductible, while replacement of the entire windshield typically requires a small deductible, depending on your insurance policy. It’s a good idea to contact your insurer or workshop to understand your coverage. At Hydro Autocenter, we’re happy to help you report the damage and clarify what’s covered so you avoid unexpected costs and get a quick repair.

Repairing a stone chip in the windshield usually takes under 30 minutes and can often be done while you wait. The process involves cleaning the damaged area, injecting a special resin, and curing it with UV light. The result is an almost invisible repair that prevents the chip from turning into a crack. It’s important to have the damage fixed quickly to maintain windshield strength and avoid an expensive replacement. At Hydro Autocenter, we provide fast, professional repairs — and we’ll also help contact your insurer if needed.

Rust Protection

A Dinitrol rust protection treatment typically lasts 3–5 years, depending on driving conditions and the vehicle type. For optimal protection, we recommend a follow-up treatment every two to three years. Dinitrol products penetrate even the smallest cavities and create a strong protective film against moisture, salt, and dirt.

At Hydro Autocenter, we use professional Dinitrol systems and also offer follow-up inspections and warranty options. A properly performed treatment can significantly extend your vehicles lifespan and help preserve its value — especially in the Danish climate where rust develops easily.

Rust protection shields your car from moisture, salt, and dirt — all of which are plentiful in the Danish climate due to the seasons. Although many newer cars have some factory rust protection, it’s often insufficient for everyday conditions. Rust can start in hidden cavities and spread quickly, which can harm both the safety and value of the vehicle.

A professional rust protection treatment — like the Dinitrol solution we offer — extends your cars lifespan and reduces the need for costly repairs. At Hydro Autocenter, we recommend regular rust protection to ensure your car stays in great shape for many years to come.

Service Agreement

A service agreement at Hydro Autocenter typically covers all manufacturer-recommended services, including labor, oil, filters, and other wear parts. Additionally, your plan includes quality products from Bosch or equivalent brands, a stamp in the service book to maintain the factory warranty, a price guarantee so you’re assured the best price, and a 10% discount on your services under your agreement.

The agreement ensures your car is maintained correctly without unexpected expenses. We also offer tailored service plans that can be adjusted to your needs and the age of your car. Contact us if you’d like to review exactly what’s included in your specific agreement.

You can find details about your service agreement in the document you received when it was set up — either digitally via email or in paper form. If you have access to an online customer portal, your agreement may also be available there. At Hydro Autocenter, we’re happy to help you locate or resend your agreement if you’re unsure. Call or write to us, and we’ll make sure you have an overview of your coverage, when your next service is due, and how to get the most out of your plan.

Electric Vehicles

Although EVs have fewer moving parts than gasoline and diesel cars, there are still components that can fail. These include the battery pack, charge port, electric motor, inverter, brakes, and the climate control system. Common wear parts like tires, shock absorbers, and suspension components may also need replacement. Electronics and software play a major role in EVs and can occasionally cause issues. At Hydro Autocenter, we specialize in electric vehicles and offer diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance for their unique components — always with certified staff and the latest equipment.

Electric cars follow the same inspection rules as other passenger cars in Denmark. The first inspection is due four years after first registration and then every two years. This applies regardless of whether the car runs on electricity, gasoline, or diesel. Even though EVs tend to have fewer technical issues, brakes, lights, steering, and tires must still be checked during inspection. At Hydro Autocenter, we also offer inspection prep, so you can be confident your EV will pass without issues. Contact us in good time so we can help with the practicalities.

A health check of an EV battery typically costs between 500 and 1,500 DKK, depending on the vehicle model and the level of detail in the analysis. At Hydro Autocenter, we offer advanced battery testing, measuring capacity, state of charge, and any cell faults. This is especially relevant when buying or selling an EV, or if you notice reduced range. A health check provides peace of mind and documentation of the battery’s condition. We also advise you on how to best maintain the battery so you get the most out of it — both day to day and in the long term.

Yes. EV batteries gradually lose capacity over time, especially with high mileage and frequent fast charging. An older battery can still function but will deliver shorter range and may take longer to charge. Most manufacturers provide an 8-year or up to 160,000 km warranty, but this depends on the brand and model.

At Hydro Autocenter, we offer battery testing and guidance so you can monitor battery health. A well-maintained battery can last a long time, but eventually capacity may decline to a point where replacement becomes necessary.

Damages

If your car has been damaged, you can report the claim to your insurance company by phone or on their website — photos and a brief description are often required. At Hydro Autocenter, we’re happy to help with the entire process: we contact your insurer, assess the damage, and prepare a quote. Just drop off the car — we’ll take care of the rest. We work with all major insurance companies and ensure fast, professional repairs with original parts.

Yes. At Hydro Autocenter, we offer a loaner car while your own car is in the workshop. This is a great solution if we estimate that the repair or service will take longer — possibly a couple of days — and you need to stay mobile. A loaner car is included in certain service agreements or offered for a small fee depending on the scope of work. Please mention that you need a loaner when you book your appointment so we can ensure one is ready for you. We handle a quick, seamless handover so you can avoid waiting and hassle.
